JULIA'S TREASURES

If you ever wondered - and I know many of you girls have - what Julia Restoin Roitfeld's closet and vintage collection looks like, I can tell you this: glorious and impeccable! Not only does Julia have an enviable array of the most marvelous pieces, all handpicked or gifted, she also takes particularly great care of  them. She keeps everything neatly stored and organized in dry cleaning bags, leather cases and dust free boxes. Designer dresses, antique shirts, ruby earrings, a classic Chanel handbag, even a cheap mini mouse watch - she knows exactly where everything is. "The only thing I don't buy are vintage shoes. It's kind of gross." And so, on a beautiful Monday afternoon, a barefoot Julia graciously talks me through her closet.

"I bought this cabaret dress at Vixente in Ibiza in the summer of 2006. I saw it in the window, tried it on and it fit me perfectly! It was meant to be. I've only worn it once and it was photographed a lot. It's one of those pieces I can wear at home, for my own pleasure, or I could just frame and hang on the wall."

"This is a Norma Kamali bathing suit I bought at Resurrection. I've never worn it. I almost did this winter in Paris, with tights and a belt but it was too cold. I am waiting for that special summer day..."

"This long white dress I bought in Ibiza in the summer of 2008. Also at Vixente."

"This Yves Saint Laurent dress is actually lingerie, which they don't make anymore now. I bought it at New York Vintage on 25th Street. I call it my Shakira dress!"

"My brother bought this bag for me in Paris for Christmas. It used to belong to Catherine Deneuve. It's my new favorite bag."

"I do consulting for Miu Miu and on my many research trips I always come across something I just can't part with. This leopard ruffle dress is super sexy. Sigh..."

THANK YOU SWEET JULIA!
