The worst thing about having vintage clothes, is those sneaky, greedy moths. I know how to get rid of them - washing each suspicious piece of clothing and storing them in bags with cedar blocks - such a tedious job. But how do you prevent them?? Every time I see one flying out of my wardrobe as I ruffle to find something to wear, I scream in agony. And I look frantically for that disastrous banana shaped hole it left in my cashmere dress or wool sweater. Last winter I had to throw out 5 sweaters. This morning I threw out a Rogan dress.
The worst I ever saw was the damage a moth did to my Phillip Lim cashmere cardigan. Granted I hadn't worn it in a couple of years, but when I decided to pull it out a few weeks ago I jumped and cried out in horror. What would be appear to be a monstrous, dinosaur of a moth had eaten its way around one of the front buttons, leaving it dangling by a few measly threads of the grey soft cashmere there once was. I felt completely helpless. Such a ridiculously small insect, causing so much grief and destruction.
Any tips on prevention?
