Lily Allen...
The lovely Lily Allen came and shopped at my stand last Sunday with her sister Sarah, they took all my favorite pieces away in bags...really looking forward visiting Lily's shop when it opens. I did not know a thing about it until I met Lily & Sarah last week, now I keep hearing about it on the radio, online etc. I have just sourced some more beautiful dresses and a 1930s quilted jacket that is just unbelievable - I will do pictures as soon as it has been freshened up....I'm doing a new shoot for the website on Tuesday with Frankie modeling again (see my homepage for other pictures of Frankie), Fergs doing photography and Elle Hitchens giving us her make up skills for the day.
We are borrowing an amazing huge, light room with beams, pillars and lovely old walls. Its on the top floor of a friends warehouse building at the docks, upstairs from their restaurant and tapas bar 'El Puerto' (go there for flamenco & paella on Sunday nights, brilliant grilled prawns, big avocado salads and perfect drinks)- big thank you to you both Jayne and Andy xx I will load up the pictures as soon as I get them...thinking tribal with a royal twist but I may change my mind on the day and have a factory worker thing going on....

Milan Women's Fashion Week: Coloured glasses
Roberta, Designer
Roberta's tinted sunglasses, which seem to be a big thing in Italy, were found at a flea market. I especially love the colour contrast between her hair and her sweater.

Milan Women's Fashion Week: Rebeca
Here I am in Milan again. Last month when I was here for Men's Fashion Week, I ended up taking a lot of shots of fashion editors. This time I'm trying to avoid doing so, since there are plenty of other places to see these photos. The first day of the week was quiet, with mostly small labels showing, but ultimately much more interesting for me in finding the more creative types, since the big shows in Milan are mostly inaccessible to those just starting out in the industry. Rebeca came out in a whirlwind from via Gattamelata after the Upcoming Designers show, and unfortunately I only got her name, as her dog was in a hurry.

London Fashion Week: At Burberry
Her style exemplifies one of my favourite women's looks right now: subtle feminine details, like her voluminous hair, join masculine clothing in a delicate color combination completed with almost no make-up.
This photo is the last from London, Dario will start posting pictures from Milano from tomorrow. I enjoyed London, despite the rain, and it had a perfect ending with visiting the most british of all shows: Burberry. I am planning on coming back in summer to take more sunlight filled pictures. Or is a wish for sunny days too much for London summer?

Dear Rivington bag,
Topshop faux leather leggins,
Weekday shoes,
Martenitsa - a piece of adornment for welcoming the Spring
Martenitsa is a small piece of adornment, made of white and red yarn and worn from March 1 until around the end of March.
***Contact me if you want more than 1, to make new listing of Set***
Measurement:
about 4 inch (10 cm.)
This is an old pagan tradition and remains almost unchanged today. The common belief is that by wearing the red and white colours of the martenitsa people ask Baba Marta for mercy. They hope that it will make winter pass faster and bring spring. Many people wear more than one martenitsa. They receive them as presents from relatives, close friends and colleagues.
Martenitsa is usually worn pinned on the clothes, near the collar, or tied around the wrist. You can hang it at home, wherever you want, pin it on your bag or coat, hang it on the wall or everywhere else.
The tradition calls for wearing the martenitsa until the person sees a stork or a blooming tree. The stork is considered a harbinger of spring and as evidence that Baba Marta is in a good mood and is about to retire.

At home: Aisha
Aisha, 27, entrepreneuse, gallerist, lawyer, philanthropist, publisher
Aisha is my lovely hostess in London, she lives inside a flat made out of clothes. The walls are made of Peter Jensen dresses, the floors are covered in Sonia Rykiel and the ceiling is a patchwork of vintage Valentino. Customized pumps and Vivienne Westwood boots line the walls and Aisha likes to wear delicate silk dresses from the 1930s for lunch.

London Fashion Week: At Somerset House
I know this does not really fit into the Cut! section, and it does not show her outfit too well so there is no objective reason to put this picture up here - but my goodness is that a beautiful face!

London Fashion Week: At Somerset House
Arriving in London, the first present I got was a light flu. Feeling drowsy all day is not the ideal condition to take pictures on the street, and inbetween all the London excitement her demure all-grey outfit and the natural look of her hair and make-up were a welcome relief to my achy head.

New York Fashion Week: At Peter Jensen
Sarah Sophie Flicker, filmmaker and host of The Citizens Band
I went to New York this week to attend the panel on fashion blog ethics at the "Evolving Influence" conference. Aside from the conference, the only other thing I had time to see was the presentation of Peter Jensen at Milk Studios, where I met Sarah Sophie. Most New York style is, in my humble perspective as an infrequently-visiting foreigner, an illustration in trying too hard to follow the trends along the rules they ostensibly require, resulting in brand-loaded outfits that lack the personal touch. Sarah Sophie is clearly a stand-out. Her personal style is obviously inspired by the 1920s and goes oh so well with her light skin and striking features. Unfortunately, I forgot to ask her where she got that delicate headpiece, but I guess it is vintage.

Copenhagen Fashion Week: Backstage at Henrik Vibskov
I know that there is a tendency for bloggers to be over-enthusiastic about everything they see, but anyone who knows me can say that I'm normally the last person to gush. Henrik Vibskov presented his latest collection, entitled "The Slippery Spiral Situation," and was definitely Vibskov at the best I've ever seen him. His shows are always the highlight of Copenhagen Fashion week, which I think is mostly attributed to his exhibition of not just a line of clothing, but an entire world, non-sensical as it may be. White-painted fingers, strange mirrored spectacles, wooden monastic hats, and a Twin Peaks inspired live soundtrack (with the designer himself playing the drums) all created an otherworldly atmosphere, which Vibskov himself probably couldn't fully comprehend. But what set the show apart from the rest was the craftsmanship of Vibskov's tailoring. As usual, his men's collection was stronger than the women's, but the cut and movement of both collections showed a maturity that was missing in past collections, while still keeping the magic of his quirky worldview intact.

Copenhagen Fashion Week: Peter Jensen for Weekday
Peter Jensen presented his upcoming collection for Weekday yesterday morning at Copenhagen Fashion Week. As Jensen states in the press release, "one of my main reference points for the collection was a photo of me as a small child with my grandmother. I wanted the collection to embrace this 70's Scandinavian atmosphere while still feeling contemporary and clean, so to obtain this I chose a very classic palette."
Although the colour palette is subdued, there are still elements of humour in the pieces that characterize Jensen's work, in particular a t-shirt adorned with tassels, which Jensen says was inspired by the tablecloth in the photo of him and his grandmother. The collection will be available from March in Weekday shops, so if there isn't a Weekday store around you, I suggest you book your tickets now.
Juliane from Reigen and I had a chance to interview Peter during the press brunch, where we asked him about his design process and his thoughts on his place in British and Scandinavian fashion.

At home: Norman Palm
This is Norman Palm. The singer shares his time between Berlin and Mexico City, where his girlfriend lives. I can't really grasp why he's currently in an ice-covered Berlin, instead of hanging around in a sun-flooded Mexico, but I guess it's because of his new album. He's currently recording with the support of Daniel Nentwig, who normally plays the keyboards for The Whitest Boy Alive, and Emma and Mia from Le Corpse Mince de Francoise. When he's not making music, he can also be found re-mixing Mexican billboards.

At home: Robert Lippok
Robert Lippok, 43, musician, wearing a Bernhard Wilhelm shirt, Comme des Garcons jeans, Falke socks and Gucci shoes.
Robert is a part of To Rococo Rot and a collector of strange things. His room is filled with, of course, records and musical instruments, but also with all kinds of knick-knacks. He has a thing for lamps made of hedgehog spines, small red plastic rabbits, big black plastic ravens, anatomic models of the human body, parrot beaks, huge glass bulbs, and hand puppets, like the creepy one he is showing in this picture. But he is not stockpiling them and making his apartment into a weird cabinet of curiosities, but rather chooses them carefully, presenting only a few of them on his desk and walls. Which either makes it less spooky, or even more.
