Who is this? !! I want one!

Oh my goodness I love this designer! I want so to find out her or his name but the Thai Catwalk website is mostly in Thai...if anyone knows do email me! The dress below is brilliant too - not sure why the closed eyes but from the you tube film of the show she seemed to walk it with them closed too?!

Bangkok Fashion Week

I am off to Bangkok in 3 days time my lovelies - I feel really really lucky to be going after the wind today, it was biting into my legs - had to go home and put on my cashmere harem pants (worn with little narrow black riding boots, a 1930s silk blouse and jacket... wow they are lovely and soft- here is where I got them half price in the sale!) : http://www.cocoacashmere.com/cashmere-bottoms
Harem pant

AND WOW! It was very busy today at the first viewing of the vintage fashion auction - Thank You everypne who came along xxx. Two lovely men from CNN were there filming (and interviewing) the whole time (Queen Mothers wedding dress prototype mainly but some of the Ossie Clarks and the Orange Biba dress too) I strode about with my measuring tape trying to answer all the emails that needed sizes / condition reports...we must be more thorough on the catalogue next time.....I think a lot of people just came to look at the rails as its the first time any thing like this has gone on in Bristol but I did see some very serious buyers and lots of bids were left at the end of the morning - now to pack my first aid kit for Thailand... XXX Love Samaya PS: So, Bangkok Fashion Week, sadly its not when I am there but in September - I would love to go - some of the pictures from last years catwalk look brilliant but this one made me laugh quite hard and loud when I saw it in amongst the others - it is totally mad, how did he sneak onto the runway?!!!???:

featured seller friday : handz

Hi there :)

This weeks featured seller is Jan from handz on etsy. His shop is filled with vintage inspired goodies - most notably some pretty sweet prints. I do believe one would look perfect in my apartment!

Take a peek at my interview with Jan below, along with some of my favorite items from his shop handz.

Where do you get your inspiration from?

When I moved to my own flat and started to read some blogs about interior decorating I began a huge fan of mid century modern furniture and scandinavian design - this is my main source of inspiration.

When did you start designing?
Immediately after high school - I started work at a local agency.

You have some vintage Scandinavian items for sale in your shop, tell me about them...

Those are items I get for myself but actually have no space for them at home so I'm selling them, Im more of a collector that vintage trader, selling those precious item is always bit sad for me but it is nice when they could make someone else happy.

What has been your favorite thing about selling your designs?I'm very happy when I see that someone else likes my work!

Can we find you anywhere else? (blog, facebook, twitter, etc.)

A Vintage Day Out - Sundays at Primrose Hill

Is there a lovelier way of spending a grey Sunday in January than catching up with an old friend? After meeting at Camden Town Underground we chatted as we walked, passing the countless kebab shops and scruffy teenagers, to pretty Primrose Hill and the Vintage Fashion Fair London. 50 free tickets can be claimed by anyone registering with the site & requesting early. At £3 it’s not much of a pinch if you forget! Click here for more information
30 stallholders specialising in vintage clothing, furs, hats, bags & jewellery await you on entering the hall, countless women rummaging for hidden treasure. I spotted a lovely pink 50s evening dress with shoestring straps and beaded detailing and a touch of 40s glamour can be easily found with cashmere cardigans with mink fur collars only £50. The stallholders encourage visitors to try on hats & accessories and are generally very friendly and helpful.

Later we sought out the marvellous Primrose Bakery - decorated in the pastel colours reflective of their famous cupcake icing. Since publishing 'Cupcakes from the Primrose Bakery' it is not surprising to find a steady stream of cake lovers queuing for a table or a takeaway ‘deadly’.

They all peer into the cabinet filled with cupcakes in myriad flavours, struggling to make a decision. I wonder if they make it home before breaking into the box and devouring the soft sponge & heavenly vanilla frosting.

The quirky shops of Regents Park Road are a short walk away, my favourite is Judith Michael & Daughter - Vintage Treasures. It is impossible to feel the January blues when you step inside - an eclectic mix of perfume bottles, Art Deco cocktail glass sets, cushions and jewellery all beautifully displayed. It is owned by Gillian Anderson Price and is well worth a visit if you are looking for decorative items for the home or unusual
presents, or just go anyway!

House of ExtraLavanda

On the coldest winter morning of the season, a crew of fifteen sleepy, downtown New Yorkers boarded a JetBlue flight to West Palm Beach. We'd be joining a party of sixty other guests for a seated dinner organized by House of Lavande, a local vintage jewelry company owned by Tracy Smith. To show her fans and customers what the company's made of she coincided the party with the centennial anniversary of Palm Beach.

Dizzy from the 3-hour plane ride, Starbucks in one hand, event calendar in the other, we shuffled onto the mini-bus that would take us to the The Breakers Hotel. En route the driver suggested we make a quick stop at the House of Lavande store to pick up our pre-ordered jewelry for the party. After some light protesting and continued incessant yawning, we gave in, de-boarded the bus and entered the store. Suddenly everyone's eyes lit up. Gasps and shrieks resounded throughout the store. The shuffling turned into feverish, giddy bustling. We didn't know where to turn first. Drawer upon drawer, shelf upon shelf, revealing color or metal coordinated trays of vintage costume bracelets, necklaces, cuffs, rings, tiaras and more. House of Lavande is a lavish, shimmering paradise, a sensational feast of gold and silver. When he finally made it to the exit, an exasperated Mickey Boardman said: "I had to stay on the surface because if I had dug any deeper into those drawers I would've had a meltdown."

House of Lavande's beach-side dinner party kicked off on Saturday night just as the sun was setting. Guests included editors Amanda Hearst (Marie Claire) and Luigi Tadini (Paper), bloggers Jane Aldridge (Sea of Shoes) and Lindsay Gathright (W), local reporters and clients and New York City cool kids Jen Brill and Chrissie Miller. The dinner table was a rich tableau of lavender and purple flower arrangements, floating crystal chandeliers, lavender scented candles and place settings fit for a royal wedding. Everyone was in the best of spirits, bedazzled in House of Lavande designer jewels, sipping lavender vodka cocktails and yes, there was even lavender-colored cauliflower and ice cream! Dinner quickly turned into a full on dance party - DJ Chelsea Leyland played records without taking as much as a 5-minute break until the wee hours - ties and jackets came off and the waiters got frisky with the ladies. For a full report check out Billy Farrell's photos (http://www.billyfarrellagency.com/home/event/610); Caroline Giamari's Purple Diary (http://galleries.purple-diary.com/tags/house-of-lavande-miami-january-2011) or W magazine's blog (http://www.wmagazine.com/w/blogs/editorsblog/2011/01/27/the-jewel-of-palm-beach.html).
