The Blitz Party continues to grow due to the boom of vintage and the fact that it's the nearest thing to feeling a sense of how it must have been to party in the 1940's. Some things could be improved - for example I prefer a more authentic swing band or act such as The Polka Dot Dolls but I did LOVE the fact that the sirens sounded whenever the live band was about to play. I think they could go further with this - and maybe have some snippets of Churchill's speeches now and then 'this is not the end, this is not even the begininning of the end...' or why not have that as you come in?

Ladies! you will be relieved to hear you can get your hair done 1940's style at the party! Luckily my mum spent 2 hours doing mine eeek! How did wartime women find the time? I met a sweet old lady a month ago who was in her element when I showed her my copy of Vintage Life magazine. She found a picture of a Land Girl which reminded her of her days spent in Kent working for the Land Army and described how thick the breeches were! I for one am rather pleased everyone is taking more of an interest in the past. It is so important that the younger generation talk to their grandparents and aunts and uncles to really see how life has changed and how lucky we are.

Tickets are always a sell out so if you want to attend keep a look out on the Blitz Party website or facebook group!

I (in picture above )went along with my friend Richie and some of his friends. It was a whole new experience for them and it was lovely to see their delight on entering the Village Underground, where around 800 men and women all danced in 1940's costume and sipped cocktails as Glen Miller played 'In the Mood'.
If you're planning to go to the next Blitz party please get all your male friends to dress up in uniforms! Swoon!
Check out other Bourne and Hollingsworth events such as Prohibition and Belle Epoque. I am yet to attend Belle Epoque but hear the order of the day is Moulin Rouge inspired outfits and Absinthe - (yuk!) haha and the best event of the year - The Chap Olympiad!
